Our committee thought that BGA should advise our members and followers of some exhibitions and competitions either currently running or in the nearest future. I hope for this publication to be a quarterly event. Your thoughts and ideas are very welcome.
Exhibitions
It is the summer and the most talked about amongst us is The Royal Academy Summer
Exhibition. Even more so as our own Charlotte Staunton has been chosen to show her work there.
In case you have missed it, it is in room 8. Entry fee is about £20.
Oh, while you are there, don’t miss Flaming June. Entry is free and the painting is invaluable.
Tate modern is telling the story of the group of friends that stared the Expressionism. The group
that was formed at the early 20th century was called The Blue Rider. Very interesting exhibition.
Cost about £22.
Much closer to home we can find the Camden Art Centre
just off the Finchley Road in NW3. A contemporary
exhibition of Lonnie Holley's work. Watch this short video
to get some idea.
And last, from 7 September to the 29th, our neighbours Herts Visual
Arts will run their annual open studios. Artists are from all over the
scope like you and me. I visited some of the studios in the past and
it was time well spent.
Listening
If you are at home or on the way, I suggest you listen to “This Cultural Life”with Frank Auerbach
Competitions and Exhibiting
Competitions and exhibiting can be very frustrating. Whether we are accepted to exhibit
somewhere, or not, is a mater of the opinion of the curator. Different curators may have different
opinions. I will try to introduce a couple of opportunities to exhibit in every email.
Our Barnet Guild of Artist will hold our annual exhibition at the end of October. All guild members are welcome. No selection. Keep on following the BGA announcements.
The British Art Prize - Entry fee is £20 per item. Submission deadline 26 September 2024
This is the first email and hopefully more to come. I am just sharing information that is available on
the internet. I do not take responsibility for other people content.
I hope you enjoyed reading. Please share with me your thoughts in comments below.
Keep up with the good art creation,
Dan Kirschner
